The Chickering Piano Company was established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1823.
These unique pianos were considered to be the “best” piano of its day.
They were the first pianos to use a “cast-iron plate” and use a larger soundboard area around the piano keys which enriched the pianos tone.
The Chickering’s sound is deep, warm and unlike any other piano produced in the 1800’s.
It’s tone inspired Heinrich (Henry) Engelhard Steinway to build his own pianos and start the Steinway & Sons Piano Company.

Chickering Pianos are also not strangers to the White House throughout our nation’s history. Even Abraham Lincoln had one during his presidency.

With the great history of the Chickering Piano, when the opportunity came to light, we could not resist having one of our own!
Our 4 Flagg Road store in Gonic is now the proud owner of a Chickering Piano – Circa 1900.
Visit the store, cool off and check out one of our newest pieces!
